I thank God for allowing me to live in such an interesting
period in time. I am proud to be alive in a time where technology is developing in full
throttle. It is a time when the arts are more liberal with reverence to past
works. It is a time when freedom and democracy is understood as both a
privilege and a responsibility. It is also a time when the End of the Universe
is at plain sight… Yes you read it right, the END OF THE UNIVERSE AT PLAIN
SIGHT!
The End of the Universe is not in the vast vacuum of space.
It’s not inside a black hole or a cloud of energy.
The End of the Universe is
in San Juan, Metro Manila. It is situated specifically on the stretch of P.
Guevarra St. in Baranggay Little Baguio. I know, it may sound preposterous and
outrageous to you, but believe me; it is where the End of the Universe is.
If you are planning to pass by the area because my words may
have tickled your interest, try to direct your attention on the Petron Gas
Station on the corner of P. Guevarra St. and P. Parada St.
You will see a
normal gas pumping station. It will be business as usual with cars lining up
and the crew running from one pump to another giving their utmost service. You
smile and go on traversing the street towards the next intersection.
You pass
by a house with a gate, maybe a stray dog or a man smoking; a normal street in a
community you say.
THEN BOOM! ANOTHER PETRON GAS STATION!!! You may think you
didn’t move or maybe you drove backwards, but no, IT’S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT/SAME
GAS STATION.
Twilight Zone has nothing on this anomaly! You haven’t even
passed a street or intersection. You haven’t even exhaled the breath you just
took a little while ago. You haven’t even blinked from the blink you just had a
second ago. There it is, a f*cking identical establishment offering the same
services for the same prices. Why wouldn’t they have the same stuff? THEY’RE
THE SAME F*CKING GAS COMPANY!!! In what part of the Universe will an instance
happen where, after pumping gas in your vehicle, a few seconds after, you’d
think, “I may need some gas”?
That’s not even the odd part. What’s odd is that both of
them are still in business. People around the area don’t seem to notice this
weird occurrence, which makes me think if there’s some kind of conspiracy. I
asked a jeepney driver once what he thinks about this. The driver answered me
with,”Eh?” seemingly not understanding what I was talking about.
I have an unfaltering faith in man’s intelligence. There is
just no way would anybody be too dumb to build a gas station and about 8 meters
from it, build the same gas station. At least one person would question why,
right? So the only explanation for this is that it is the End of the Universe.
At some point in the 8 meters that these 2 establishments are apart, there lies
the Secret of the Cosmos. P. Guevarra St. in San Juan, Metro Manila, is the End
of the Universe. I’d rather have it as the End of the Universe because I just
can’t believe the alternative, that it’s the End of Common Sense.
